Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

•  Identify situations when I need to notify my medical liability insurance provider of new incident or claim.
•  Take appropriate steps once a claim, litigation, regulatory investigation, or peer review action has begun.
•  Draft a comprehensive document clarifying the expectations patients can have from their healthcare practice, as well as the expectations their practice holds for its patients.
• Revise and update their practice policies to establish clear guidelines for terminating a patient, including avoiding abandonment and addressing the necessary documentation and communication protocols involved in the process.
